Challenge and Change
Disability Can Do actively campaigns to challenge and change pre-conceptions around living with a disability, raises awareness of disability rights and promotes an inclusive society free from disabling barriers where all individuals are equal
We follow the Social model of Disability, which recognises that people are disabled by barriers in society, not their impairments.
We offer support to people with a disability, and their carers, in the local community to help break down barriers, increase their knowledge and confidence about their rights, enabling them to access opportunities and make well-informed choices.
Disability Can Do Works with local service providers, organisations, and members of the public, to campaign for disability rights and improved services because we believe we are stronger together.

Voice and Influence
The Caerphilly Disability Forum
Disability Can Do hosts a Disability Forum to challenge and change the lack of accessibility, attitudes, and issues that people with disability and their carers face or improvements they would like to see within the local community.
The forum provides you with the opportunity to meet with like-minded individuals, share your experiences, get the advice you need, and discuss issues that matter to you in a safe and supportive environment.
The forum provides a collective voice on disability issues and acts on issues of concern chosen to be championed as a group.

Values and Connections
Campaigning for disability rights
To get a better understanding of the barriers faced and life situations of people with disabilities and their carers, Disability Can Do works closely with those in the local community. By speaking with statutory bodies, local businesses, and people in the third sector, we can build our understanding of the support we should offer.
With a better awareness of the issues, we know how to make a positive impact and start breaking down barriers together. Disability Can Do always promises to advocate for disabled rights, enabling people with disabilities to live the life they choose. By involving local connections, we are strengthening the value of the community for everyone.
How you can challenge and change your perception of disabilities
Being advocates for the rights of disabled people is at the core of what we do. We believe everyone should have the chance to live a happy and full life, without unnecessary barriers. To challenge and change people’s perceptions, we focus on the positive things people with disabilities ‘Can Do’, instead of what they can’t.
As an individual, employer, or organisation, you can sign up to our disability awareness training and help campaign for disability rights. This training aims to challenge and change common perceptions and unconscious biases around disabilities. If you are looking for more advice on navigating disability issues, get in touch with the team.
